CITAM Valley Road Marks 40 Years of God’s Faithfulness

CITAM Valley Road recently celebrated a remarkable milestone forty years since the commissioning of its sanctuary. The week leading to the celebration, was one filled with joy, reflection, and deep gratitude as congregants, leaders, and guests gathered to honour God’s enduring faithfulness through the decades. Under the theme “Faithful Through Generations – From Glory to Glory,” the celebration became both a reflection on a rich heritage and a declaration of faith for the years ahead.  Grounded in the powerful reminder from 1 Kings 8:56, that “not one word has failed of all His good promises,” the anniversary echoed a story of God’s unwavering hand upon His people. From humble beginnings to becoming a flagship assembly of impact and transformation, the journey of CITAM Valley Road testified that God truly remains faithful through every generation.  The week-long celebration brought together the church family for revival evenings. Each day carried a distinct focus that told a story of God’s grace, recalling His faithfulness, holding on to His promises through seasons of challenge, celebrating His work through generations, and finally, embracing the call to move from glory to glory.   Music ministers such as Kestin Mbogo, Pitson, Mojishot Baba, and Florence Mureithi led powerful sessions that lifted the hearts of worshippers. The songs “Revive Us Again” and “Firm Foundation” became anthems of gratitude and surrender, echoing through the sanctuary as voices united in praise.  Speakers including Bishop Calisto Odede, Deputy Bishop Rev. Justus Mugambi, Bishop Emeritus Bonface Adoyo and host Senior Pastor Rev. Jesse Mwai, delivered deeply stirring messages that reflected on God’s faithfulness, the importance of generational continuity, and the call to greater glory ahead. Their words inspired both the older and younger generations to rededicate themselves to the work of the Kingdom.  As part of the celebrations, the church took time to honour the pioneers, former pastors, and long-serving members who laid the foundation for what CITAM Valley Road is today. There was also a photo gallery and a Hall of Fame showcasing the faces and faith of those who had served faithfully through the years.   It was not only a celebration of the past but also a charge to the next generation. The youth and children played a visible role through worship, drama, spoken word, and song symbolizing the baton being passed on. Their presence reminded the congregation that the legacy of faith must continue beyond today.  From its early days to this great milestone, CITAM Valley Road, the mother-church continues to be a witness to God’s unchanging nature. Truly, not one word of His good promise has failed. And as the church moves forward, it does so with confidence that the same God who has been faithful through generations will continue to lead it from glory to glory.

CITAM Nyeri Officially Launched

There was a joyous celebration on Sunday, November 9, 2025, which will forever be remembered as a defining moment for CITAM Nyeri. What began as a simple step of faith seven years ago, in 2017, has now blossomed into a fully-fledged CITAM Assembly, officially launched with the theme, “Encountering the Unstoppable God.”  Presiding Bishop, Rev. Calisto Odede, led the congregation in thanksgiving to God, and was joined by Deputy Bishop, Rev. Justus Mugambi, Director for Administration, Mr. Michael Wamache, Northern Region Overseer, Rev. Jesse Mwai, Deputy Regional Overseer, Rev. Paul Njoroge, members of the Council of Elders, the Deacon Board, CITAM HQ staff, family, and friends who are all witnesses to the faithfulness of God in Nyeri. Bishop Calisto preached from Isaiah 46:1-13.  The CITAM Nyeri Worship Team led heartfelt worship, and God’s presence was experienced in the sanctuary. The Children’s Ministry performed a captivating skit celebrating the remarkable growth of the congregation which had over 1,000 worshippers. The Youth Ministry brought energy and joy with a dynamic dance, while the GEM Ministry crowned the celebration with a lively Kenyan praise medley that had everyone on their feet.  In August 2017, the communication was sent out that CITAM Nyeri would be established. God placed this mission in the hands of Rev. Ken Thiong’o, who began with a small Bible study fellowship in the town, that laid the foundation for what was to come. On Good Friday, 2018, the first official service was held. A humble beginning that would soon grow into something extraordinary.  As the fellowship expanded, the congregation found a home in Lware, at the heart of Nyeri town. During the challenging COVID-19 lockdown, leadership transitioned to Rev. Collins Muema, who continued to nurture the young assembly through such uncertain times. Then, in December 2021, God opened yet another door, the move to their current property, where a permanent structure now stands.  Today, under the leadership of Rev. Gerald Ounga, CITAM Nyeri stands tall as a beacon of light and transformation in the Northern Region. From a few believers gathered in the living room of a founding member, to a thriving community of faith, the story of CITAM Nyeri is a living testament that indeed, our God is unstoppable.  To God be all the glory!

CITAM Machakos 3rd Anniversary & New Sanctuary Dedication

Sunday, 28th September 2025 will remain etched in the hearts of many as CITAM Machakos marked its 3rd Anniversary in a double portion of joy by celebrating God’s faithfulness and dedicating a new sanctuary. Praise and worship filled the air, laughter and testimonies echoed across the grounds, and a sense of divine expectation lingered. The service was graced by Rev. Calisto Odede, the Presiding Bishop, who delivered an inspiring sermon under the theme “Keep the Fire Burning” (Leviticus 6:8–13). His message was a rallying call to remain steadfast, passionate, and faithful in serving God, igniting a renewed flame in the hearts of all present. The celebration was attended by the Council of Elders, the Deacon Board, senior pastors from other CITAM assemblies, and hundreds of members who have been part of the incredible journey of growth. That journey began just three years ago, when Rev. Steve Owaga, the Lead Pastor, received information that the Council of Elders had appointed him to pioneer the work of planting a new church in Machakos. The vision took shape quickly, mobilisation began in earnest and after a week of intense evangelism and mobilization, the inaugural service was held on 4th December 2023 at the current site. “I still remember that first Sunday,” Rev. Owaga reflected with a smile. “The Spirit of God moved so powerfully that lives were touched. From that moment, we knew God had begun something extraordinary.” From a small hall with one service, the fellowship grew, expanding into two services as more people encountered Christ and joined the family. And now, three years later, the church gathered in a beautiful new sanctuary, a testimony to God’s provision and the dedication of His people. The day was not just a celebration of buildings and milestones, but a declaration of God’s faithfulness and a fresh commissioning for the future. As the flame of worship and mission continues to burn brightly in CITAM Machakos, one thing is clear; this is only the beginning of a greater story God is writing through CITAM Machakos.

Impactful DVBS Held

From Monday 11th to Friday 15th August 2025, our assemblies came alive with the sound of laughter, music, and unending joy as thousands of children thronged during the Daily Vacation Bible School (DVBS). It was a beautiful sight with the little ones arriving, some clutching their parents’ hands, while others hopping off the buses that had been organized to ferry them. Day after day, the sanctuaries were filled with radiant faces eager to sing, dance, learn, and encounter Jesus in a special way. The atmosphere was electric and awesome. The children sang with all their hearts, their voices rising like sweet incense before the Lord. They excitedly danced, crafted with creativity, and listened with wonder as the timeless truths of Scripture were taught as guided by #InStepWithTheSpirit. In those moments, seeds of faith were being sown which will one day grow into testimonies of transformed lives. The celebration did not end on Friday but on Sunday 17th August, the children took center stage in our services. They lifted their voices in songs of praise, and their joy contagious to the entire congregation. And in a powerful moment that will be remembered for years, one of the children stood boldly to preach the Word of God. Truly, it was a glimpse of what Jesus meant when He said, “Let the little children come to me.” Parents and guardians were deeply moved. Many expressed heartfelt gratitude, both in person and through our social media platforms, testifying to the lasting impact DVBS had on their children. Their words echoed one truth: DVBS is more than just a program, it is discipleship in action. It is about reaching young hearts for Christ, shaping a generation that will rise to love and serve Him. This year’s DVBS reminded us that when children encounter the presence of God, their joy is uncontainable, their faith is pure, and their witness is powerful. As a church, we celebrate what the Lord has done and commit to continue nurturing these little ones in the way of Christ.
